Happy Friday! Welcome to the Iron Made Gym Newsletter. Our goal with this production is to share information with our unique community that will help you reach your goals.
Today we want to introduce to a new piece of equipment from Westside Barbell. The piece is a front squat harness. One of the biggest issues with front squat we have found if wrist flexibility and shoulder comfort. Often this exercise places a great deal of stress on these two body parts that makes increasing in weight out of the question. By using the harness, it eliminates the stress on the wrist and shoulders and place the tension on your legs, primarily the quads.
The second piece of equipment is a bolt on attachment to this harness, the zercher attachment. Performing a normal zercher squat is extremely uncomfortable. To be honest, they hurt so bad I stopped performing the exercise. Holding the bar in your arms places an extreme amount of discomfort on your arms making it all the more harder to increase weight. Using this attachment has direct carry over to the good morning, deadlift, and squat. Plus this is a fantastic way to implement a new stimulus to prevent detraining.
Let us know how you like this new piece of equipment!
I finished a book recently written by Viktor Frankl called Man’s Search for Meaning. He was a survivor of Nazi concentration camps. He focused not on describing the torturing events rather the psychology behind the people involved. It is a book I believe everyone should read. I would like to end by sharing some of my favorite parts of the book. They made me deeply think about life, I hope they do the same for you.
“Those who have a 'why' to live, can bear with almost any 'how'.”
“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”
“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.”
“In some ways suffering ceases to be suffering at the moment it finds a meaning, such as the meaning of a sacrifice.”
“Life is never made unbearable by circumstances, but only by lack of meaning and purpose.”
“I do not forget any good deed done to me & I do not carry a grudge for a bad one.”
