Happy Friday! Welcome to the Iron Made Gym Newsletter. Our goal with this production is to share information with our unique community that will help you reach your goals.
This week has been one of excitement and celebration. Jill Byers qualified for Nationals this year in Bocce for both singles and doubles play. We had the honor of flying to Seattle, Washington to watch her compete. In single play, Jill Placed 6th while improving each match.
As doubles began, Jill and her partner were peeking at the right time. Andrea coming off a gold medal in her singles tournament, and Jill improving her play every round, would prove to be a challenging team to beat. Wednesday night they played in the finals for the Gold/Silver match vs NY.
In this match the rules were first to 12 points or most point at the 40minute mark. Team PA fought and entered the final round (due to time limit) tied 6-6, but fell short with a final of 9-6.
It was an amazing experience to see so many competitive athletes come together to have fun and represent their states. Perhaps even more moving was the thousands of volunteers, coaches, parents, and professional companies that donated their time, resources, and skills to make this week long event possible for Special Olympic athletes. I will forever be grateful that my family was able to be a part of this.
We are so proud of you Jill! Thank you for representing your state, family, and gym with the utmost courage and dignity. You inspire us.
