Happy Friday! Welcome to the Iron Made Gym Newsletter. Our goal with this production is to share information with our unique community that will help you reach your goals. We want to introduce to you some newly added pieces of equipment. We have added four 6’ long 3/4” diameter chains that weight 30lb each. We also added four 6’ long 5/8” diameter long chains that weigh 20lb each. So perhaps you are asking why? These can be implemented in the same manner as bands. They allow the weight to adjust through the range of the repetition. As the weight gets heavier toward the lockout, your body must accelerate through the entire lift to fight against the extra poundage. Because of your accelerated motion, you ultimately become more explosive. These can be implemented in a very wide variety including dips, bench press, shoulder press, squats, good mornings, deadlifts, bridge reps, and floor drags. When you choose what exercise to implement them with, the end of the chains must be close to the floor but not touching when you are in the lockout position. Here are two examples of exercises:
I recently finished a book by one of my favorite authors, Patrick Lencioni, The Five Dysfunctions of a Team. The pillars of this book are: inattention to results, avoidance of accountability, lack of commitment, fear of conflict, and absence of trust. As many of our customers are business professionals and people involved in team atmospheres, I am sure you have run into more than one of the five. So the question is, which one do you need to improve on the most?

Happy Friday! Welcome to the Iron Made Gym Newsletter. Our goal with this production is to share information with our unique community that will help you reach your goals. Today we want to introduce to a new piece of equipment from Westside Barbell. The piece is a front squat harness. One of the biggest issues with front squat we have found if wrist flexibility and shoulder comfort. Often this exercise places a great deal of stress on these two body parts that makes increasing in weight out of the question. By using the harness, it eliminates the stress on the wrist and shoulders and place the tension on your legs, primarily the quads. The second piece of equipment is a bolt on attachment to this harness, the zercher attachment. Performing a normal zercher squat is extremely uncomfortable. To be honest, they hurt so bad I stopped performing the exercise. Holding the bar in your arms places an extreme amount of discomfort on your arms making it all the more harder to increase weight. Using this attachment has direct carry over to the good morning, deadlift, and squat. Plus this is a fantastic way to implement a new stimulus to prevent detraining. Let us know how you like this new piece of equipment!
I finished a book recently written by Viktor Frankl called Man’s Search for Meaning. He was a survivor of Nazi concentration camps. He focused not on describing the torturing events rather the psychology behind the people involved. It is a book I believe everyone should read. I would like to end by sharing some of my favorite parts of the book. They made me deeply think about life, I hope they do the same for you. “Those who have a 'why' to live, can bear with almost any 'how'.” “Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.” “When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” “In some ways suffering ceases to be suffering at the moment it finds a meaning, such as the meaning of a sacrifice.” “Life is never made unbearable by circumstances, but only by lack of meaning and purpose.” “I do not forget any good deed done to me & I do not carry a grudge for a bad one.” Follow us on our social media platforms! Today we want to introduce to you three new pieces from Elitefts. The first is the rackable cambered bar. It weighs 70lb. It’s key features include: provides instability during movements by swinging as a pendulum and provides a variety or hand placements to provide shoulder relief. We have used this bar so far for box squats, bench press (with/without bands), standing shoulder press, and good mornings.
Finally, a huge thank you to Mr. Matt Brenner who helped me install 2 new cables on the crossover machine, install a new outside flood light, repair the calf raise machine, and reupholster the two adjustable benches. We also manufactured a couple new pieces of equipment we will demo next week.

Happy New Year Iron Made Family! This time of year is a great reminder to practice kindness to new gym members. We were all once the awkward new one in the gym who didn’t know how to use equipment or know where anything was. May we strive to better each other daily. This upcoming week we look forward to introducing you to many new pieces of equipment we added to the gym! Make 2019 a great year by working for it. Follow us on our social media platforms!
